Water flossers can be extremely handy, but they can also be extremely tricky. This is because it has many high-tech qualities that some don’t quite know how to use. So, if you struggle using a water flosser, then Dr. Christopher Layton and our dental team are happy to help you! We have the instructions you need to properly operate a water flosser in Carlsbad, California.

To begin, turn your faucet on and fill the flosser’s tank with lukewarm water (lukewarm water is best, especially if you have sensitive teeth and gums). Then, put the tank back on the base. Don’t forget to put the lid on top. Next, select the type of flosser tip you would like to use and then place it on the handle. Finally, choose the pressure level you would like the flosser to use to clean your mouth.

When using the flosser, lean over the sink and place the tip in your mouth. Wrap your lips around the wand and then turn it on. Wrapping your lips around the flosser will keep the water from splashing and making a mess.

Next, start washing your smile by cleaning your molars, which are your back teeth. Aim the tip of the wand just above the gumline at a 90-degree angle. Let the water run along your gums and between your teeth, cleaning the plaque, bacteria, and food particles away. When you have cleaned the spaces between each tooth, turn the flosser off and remove the tip by pushing the tip eject button.

If you use these instructions regularly, your water flosser will properly clean and wash the crevices of your smile, reducing your chances of suffering tooth decay and gum disease.
